Grand Tour with South Coast - Sri Lanka
On this tour you can savor the essence of the island. Visits include temples and monuments, jeep safaris to national parks and the wonderful beaches of the south coast, among others.
Our representative will pick up the guests from Colombo International airport (CMB) or from a designated hotel and drive to Sigiriya, at the center of the island. On the way we can visit the the Dambulla Golden Cave Temple, a Unesco world heritage site.
We will travel to Anuradhapura ancient city, a Unesco world heritage site and Minhintale monastic complex, know as the cradle of Buddism in Sri Lanka. The visit covers the famous temples of Ruwanwelisaya, Jethavanaramaya, Abayagiriya, the Sri Maha Bodiya (Sacred Bo Tree), the Samadhi Buddha statue, Elephant Pond and Kuttam Pond (Twin Baths), major irrigation reservoirs etc. There will be also an opportunity to see Buddhist pilgrims visiting the sacred sites and traditional rural agricultural life in this arid zone of the island. On our return to hotel, guests can indulge themselves with a traditional Ayurveda treatment of medicinal oils and a steam bath of herbal leaves.
The morning visit will be to Polonnaruva ancient city, a Unesco world heritage site covering the royal citadel, Sacred Relic area, the exquisitely carved stone statues of the Gal Vihara, among others. The gigantic irrigation reservoir of Parakrama Samudraya offers a welcome cool breeze to the visitor. Afterwards we will go on a jeep safari to one of the three adjoining parks Minneriya / Kaudulla / Hurulu Eco where we can see the large herds of elephants.
Early morning visit is to climb the fifth century rock fortress of Sigiriya, a Unesco world heritage site, which shows the wonders of ancient Sinhalese landscape gardening, hydrology, engineering, architecture and paintings. After this visit, the tour will proceed to Kandy, a Unesco world heritage site.
The day will be dedicated to trekking in the outskirts of a rural mountainous village, via wooded areas, terraced rice fields, spice gardens with the possibility of bathing in a stream. Later we will have a traditional Sinhalese lunch prepared by a village family.
We will take the scenic mountain road via lush tea plantations, visiting a tea factory and a taste of cup of Ceylon tea. We will visit the Ramboda waterfall and arrive at Nuwara Eliya, center of tea industry during the British colonial era.
In the morning we will take a train ride from Demodera to Haputale so that we can ride over the famous nine arch stone bridge and also enjoy the wonderful views of the mountains. From Haputale we will ride on a tuk tuk via tea fields to the Lipton Seat view.
The morning visits around the picturesque village of Ella include the nine arch stone railway bridge and little Sri Padya viewpoint. On leaving Ella, we visit Rawana waterfall. Afternoon we will go on a jeep safari to the Yala National Park OR Udawalawe National Park.

Transit from Yala / Udawalawe to picturesque and peaceful Tangalle beach with a night turtle egg laying excursion at Rekawa beach.
We take the scenic road to Galle where the traditional and modern fishing takes place side by side. We will visit the famous Galle Fort, a Unesco world heritage site, built by the Dutch in the 17th century.
We will enjoy a morning river boat excursion among the mangroves, flora and fauna. Afterwards we will visit a turtle hatchery & rescue center. Guests can enjoy the rest of the day at the beach.
